Does zoom not work on your DVD player? A "full screen" version of a
wide screen movie can be created by "cropping" on playback by zooming.
However, a wide screen version of a "full screen" hacked video can
never be restored to wide screen.
At least this way, zooming, you will not need to buy the DVDs again
when you finally get a wide screen display.
