Avid Xpress Pro HD

I think I already know the answer to this question, but what the Hell...

Would I be correct in assuming that if you don't adhere to Avid's list
of recommended hardware then you're probably going to have an unstable
system?

99% of XP-HD works perfectly on my box, but a few things just crash it -
for example, multicam editing. You can scroll through the timeline
perfectly, but press play and it crashes. The same's true for a couple
of the effects, too.

As for going from Vegas over to Xpress Pro (mostly because people employ
Avid editors rather than Vegas ones, but also because it's fun to use
new systems), it's taken a good week of manual reading and practising
but I've finally got to the point where I can use it without thinking
'that's not how Vegas does it' or 'Vegas does this so much
better/quicker'. ;-)

I now also understand just how powerful Vegas is, as well as what a
bargain it is. For half the price you get an NLE that does everything
Xpress Pro does (plus a few things the Avid editor doesn't do). It's
just a shame Sony won't go the whole way and make Vegas perfect for low
budget film users...
