They are almost uinversally less informed than your average
citizen (or even politician). They trade on their celebrity
status and don't bother (or are incapable of) actually researching
things for themselves. They are addicted to the attention they
get from people schmmozing them to talk up their "cause".

And that is a major symptom of the decline of our current
culture/society. That "celebrities" are trotted out to make
the cause-du-jour more "compelling". "The networks" have
completely abdicated any credibility of their own. They
are profit-oriented entertainment media and are completely
unreliable for objective, factual information.
