It varies by the model.
Creative Zen Nano plus (flash memory up to 1Gb) uses artist album and file
name - it doesn't support playlists.

It certainly is for the one mentioned above.
You rip to a folder structure like this
Beethoven/
Sympony No 1/
01 Adagio molto .mp3
02 Andante cantabile con moto.mp3
03 Menuetto, Allegro molto e vivace.mp3
04 Allegro molto e vivace.mp3
Symphony No 2/
01 Allegro con brio .mp3
02 Larghetto.mp3
03 Scherzo,Allegro.mp3
04 Allegro molto .mp3
Symphony No 3/
01 Allegro con brio .mp3
02 Marcia funebre, adagio assai.mp3
03 Scherzo, Allegro vivacemp3
04 Allegro molto .mp3

Most ripping software will allow you to precede each track with the track
number - and you should be able to set up the folder structures yourself
without too much trouble.
