Depends on the area, I think... I live in inner London, and have to collect
every time duty is payable (500 metres round trip...) My saintly mother
lives in a leafy suburb, and the postie collected the duty on the doorstep
when I had a packet delivered to her while I was away.

To bring this back to how long it takes, I got a disc today from Caiman
(Amazon UK seller in Florida) that was despatched on 24 August. No duty,
because it was under 18 value, but it seems to have been sent to Germany in
a consolidated shipment, then came by post from there. I don't think this is
too bad, considering a P&P charge of only 1.24...
