Never had any problem with noise on my machine, it can whir a bit while it
first spins a disc up but once playback starts (including menus) it's no
louder than my previous player, a Panasonic A360. The only problem I've ever
had with slow remote response is when doing frame-by-frame slow
forwarding/rewinding, never in any other situation at all.

It's not on my machine, at all. It honestly sounds like you have a dodgy
drive. The only complaint I do have about it's DVD-Audio and SACD
capabilities is the lack of individual speaker volume balancing on the
player, though this can be done on the amp.

Again, never noticed this at all. Connects to both my TV and PVR with no
problems, pic from both is excellent.

Never had another Pioneer player so can't comment, but its RGB output is
superior to my old Panasonic player, as is its S-Video output. The reds can
smear slighly on S-Video but haven't noticed this problem on RGB. Don't have
the Video Essentials disc, though I've set everything up as best I can with
THX tests and the like.
