Your "Line-in" is probably set to OFF in the Volume Control tool, on the Recording side
(Volume Control->Options->Properties->switch "Adjust volume for" from Playback to
Recording).
Use the "Record Wav" tool from Exact Audio Copy instead of CDex; at least you'll be able
to see if a signal is being recorded.
