As far as I know, yes. However, from what I've read of OPPO player
models, that which has the HDMI interface does not have their best
upscaler chip. This alone makes it worth running audio via a separate
lead. And I do not know whether the audio carried by HDMI is the same
as coax or optic surround - not that that would matter as an input to
my monitor?

DRM or HDCP? Both DVI inputs as well as the HDMI input on my monitor
have HDCP.
