I don't know yet if the Red camera really is up to all it claims but I
have a sneaking suspicion it is. The same guy who's behind this is the
guy that founded and owns Oakly. Why the heck would he shoot himself in
the foot by talking utter bollocks? The Red camera has not been around
for 'years' but has been publicly in development for perhaps two. I for
one hope this does turn out to be pukka. It'd be nice to break the vice
like grip the Japanese have had on our industry for so long. This
American invention begins by discarding the rule books and coming at the
issue from a differing and lateral perspective. If we can anticipate
producing near 35mmm film quality for a fraction of HDCAM, Varicam et
al, I'm not complaining. Don't knock it until you know what it is.
