If only it worked out like that all the time.
For some items, the postage credit works in the seller's favour, but
consider that Amazon also take a slice of the postage credit. So the
buyer is charged 1.24 for delivery of a DVD, Amazon take their "admin
charge" of 16p (49p for a book), plus they take 68p + %age + VAT for the
sale, so on low priced items, they actually make more than the seller.
I sold a box set which cost 2.50 to post, so that blew away a large chunk
of my "profit".
A small book might not cost 2.75 to post, but most of the books that I
want to get rid of are weighty tomes.
Unless you're a pro-merchant, I don't see people getting rich off Amazon
Market Place.
