No, it isn't. Digital = 0 or 1. It's on, or off. It's there, or it
isn't. A signal loss higher than the error correction code can cope
with will result in audible 'pops' and 'clicks'. What it *won't* do is
'lessen the soundstage' or make the 'treble reedy' or 'reduce the bass
response'.
Anyone who thinks otherwise is: A) deluded, and; B) probably the proud
owner of £500 optical cables they *could* have spent £5 with the same
performance.
