That's odd. When they first made the change to Euros only, the
conversion rates were outrageous throughout (pretty much what you
describe). People complained, and they adjusted the currency rate to a
more reasonable 1.5. That means you're paying pretty much the same as
in pounds, particularly because you don't have to pay conversion fees
anymore when being charged in Euros.
If you don't mind my asking: What's the book you wanted to order?
Because I just tried a few £4.99 books and it shows up as 7.49 in
Euros.
