This is weird. My son's pc has recently stopped working. Its perhaps 4
years old. We've tried swapping hard drives, graphics card, moving the ram
about etc. Then I read this thread, and thought I'd take a look at the
motherboard.
I took this picture this afternoon. Is that an example of the problem?

The capacitors on the left all look fine, but those on the right are
either domed or pushing out yucky stuff.
So would taking it to an electronics friend and asking him to replace the
affected capacitors be a viable solution?
And is the Gold thing the cpu, my son says not - I thought it was.
