I recently got a copy of AE 7. I took a course at a local non-profit
video organisation. It was 6 hourse of training over three evenings.
There were several problems:
All computers available were Macs.....and I use PCs. (and though the
instructor was using a PC on the lcd projector!!) I know, within the
application, everything is the same, but it did make things a bit more
confusing.
The class was mainly the instructor demonstrating how to do different
operations. There was some time for us to work on exercises. But
mainly, anything learned was flushed out almost immediately.
The class was not cheap...the better part of three hundred bucks. The
instructor was knowledgeable and a good teacher but don't think it was
a particularly good investment, at least for me. I took another course
there previously with the same results.
I need more work to do on my own....It is impossible for me to follow
along as an exprienced guy goes through a demonstration.
I am thinking that it might be better for me to struggle along on my
own and learn a few basic things. Maybe then I could hire an expert at
$50 or so an hour to tutor me on the things I am not getting.
Or.....is Total Training an effective way to go?. Their AE 7 course is
roughtly 250 bucks.
Clearly, the way I learn best is by doing. Reading from a book is not
very effective except for specific questions. A group class, at least
in my experience, is clumsy and inefficient.
Anyway.....if you have opinions in general, I'd like to hear them. In
particular, I'd like to hear opinions regarding the Total Training
series.
thanks in advance.
