I think you may be suffering from "Operator error".
I used an MX-12 switcher for years with no glitches on the cuts
whatsoever. Switching from one camera to another is quite simple and
you can even cut from #1 to #2 on the same bus.
You can NOT do cuts on the same bus with the MX-50 because it creates
a momentary freeze frame on the source you are leaving.
Cuts on the 50 must be made from bus A to bus B but that is quite
simple to do also.
I have never actually used a Videonics but from everything I have seen
it is far more hinky to set up cuts, transitions, effects etc. than
the MX-50 is. All those little preview windows are a royal pain in the
arse and besides that IMHO it is a consumer toy.
The MX-50 is a digital switcher and they are currently being sold used
on eBay from a range of $1500.00 to $2000.00.
If you are talking about the MX-70 they are much more expensive.
