Sorry for the delay in posting this. You've probably made a decision
by now, but if just for the record...
Sony's recommended tripod for use with the HVR-A1 series camcorders is
their VCT-PG11RMB. The VCT-PG11RMB tripod includes a model RM-1BP LANC
remote controller, which is also sold as a separate product.
It's possible to use, with an HVR-A1 series camcorder, the Sony RM-1BP
LANC remote controller and a non-Sony tripod, such as a Cartoni,
Gitzo, Manfrotto, Miller, Sachtler, or Vinten.
