|||||||||| Not for Pre-orders, use this code
||||||||||
|||||||||| SQ1515
||||||||||
|||||||||| as many times as you like.
|||||||||
||||||||| If HMV had a site that didnt resemble a dead snail, maybe i'd
||||||||| have chance to use the code!
|||||||||
||||||||| In 30 mins, I'm still waiting for a search to
||||||||| complete...meanwhile, over at play, sendit and cdwow - i've
||||||||| just made several orders.
|||||||||
||||||||| They can shove their 20% off up their arse!
|||||||||
||||||||| l2oberto
|||||||||
||||||| That'll be because they're busy shoving their 20% up others
||||||| people's arses, then...
||||||
|||||| I'm just glad i'm in no hurry....at this rate, the code will
|||||| expire...
||||||
|||||||
||||||| Thank you, Mr POD - you've just saved me 46 of your splendid
||||||| English pounds - on stuff that the excellent billybargain told
||||||| me was pretty cheap to start with.....
|||||||
||||||| paul
||||||
|||||| Only 46....I see you are not making full use of your 20% code!!
||||||
|||||| :-)
||||||
|||||| l2oberto
||||
|||| Pathetic, isn't it? 183 on useless fripperies - but every single
|||| one of them is between 2 and 9 cheaper than elsewhere. So it's
|||| not that I spent 183, it's that I saved more than 46....
||||
|||| paul
||| Yes, same here. I managed to spend 127 but I convinced myself that
||| it was OK because I'd saved ~30 *and* I was going to buy the DVDs
||| at some point anyway. Sigh.
||
|| Congratulate yourself, for saving 30. Think, if you had not taken
|| up the offer, you would be 30 out of pocket. Find a item at 30 -
|| it's yours - you earned it.
||
|| That said, when I keep seeing things I once considered CHEAPEST to be
|| ridiculousy cheap now, I cringe. So, in theory, the savings are
|| really just compensation for previous overspends.
||
|| Example: NCIS season 1 - CDWOW, cheapest initially at 25. NOW, in
|| their pre-xmas sale, 15. Bastards.
||
|||
||| Slight aside: it seems that on many DVD titles (promotion aside)
||| that HMV are quite a lot cheaper than my normal web supplier, Play.
||| Anyone agree, or have suggestions for a cheaper supplier?
|||
|||
||| Clem
||
|| Swings and roundabouts.
||
|| I can find some things cheaper on play - BUT, I don't spend as much
|| there as I used to. I don't think they are getting more xpensive,
|| just others are getting cheaper. If you see my meaning.
||
|| I frequently use sendit now, BUT, that might not apply generally, in
|| terms of price. I am selective (very) in what I buy.
||
|| cdwow - ups and down with them, but what I buy from them, is
|| cheapest (see above, at the time)...but I can search for other items
|| and they are way over priced.
||
|| The problem is, if I wait for a item to "go cheaper" - sod's bloody
|| law, it doesn't. (worse case scenario, it gets deleted).
||
|| But back to point, those dvd comparison of price sites
|| www.find-dvd.co.uk) are a good guide to getting what you want at the
|| best price. Just ask on here for any supplier reviews should you be
|| in doubt of their reliabilty.
||
|| Also, depends if you want R1/R2(etc). I don't like customs charges
|| :-)
||
|| Cheers
||
|| l2oberto

I tend to use www.billybargain.co.uk - I'm lazy, and there's a Firefox
plugin available for it, which you can use it by right-clicking on any
highlighted text on a website, and get the search without typing anything...

Also, once the search has been done, clicking on the retailer's name takes
you straight to the page for that DVD. Just tried a couple of searches on
find-dvd, and that only seems to take you to the retailer's home page, so
you have to search again for the title you're after. But I'll keep find-dvd
in my back pocket, because it seems to check more sites - and works for R1
as well.

I always double-check on Amazon uk as well, as the price check search
doesn't extend to Amazon merchants, where there can be bargains to be had
from time to time. I've said this before, but Caiman (Amazon uk merchant
based in Florida) are excellent - really quick, and prices very good,
especially bearing in mind the p&p charge is only 1.24.

I agree with your comment on HMV prices - they can be startlingly good - and
they are as quick as anyone else. Frustrating that the website and the shops
seem to be completely unrelated, pricewise - several times, I've seen a
bargain in the shop, come home to look at the website only to find that it's
not reduced at all, online. And vice versa...
