I mentioned FRAPs earlier, but I didn't bring it back up in this subthread
because I thought it was unlikely to be capable of recording video displayed
in a hardware overlay. I've got no evidence to support that - the only
project I had where I needed to record CPU-hungry screen output, I didn't
bother with FRAPs. I just cloned the monitor to s-video, and sent that to
another PC using one of those 30 USB MPEG-2 encoders. It did surprisingly
well...
