I know that's supposed to be the case, but I thought that the initial
group of players were pretty much only handled their specific HD format,
and nothing else. The players able to handle DVD and CD wouldn't be out
until next year, followed - hopefully - by players able to handle both HD
formats AND CD/DVD media.

Well, even if someone decides to buy a new HD movie player now, will
probably want to keep their existing DVD player around until they're sure
the new HD player can truly replace it.

Even if HD moves to become the new standard, I really can't see going back
and rebuying much of my library anyways.
