The unfortunate thing is there are quute a few things that could be
going wrong.
Some of the things you could try out.....
Try another PC with the modem.
Try your modem and PC in someone elses ADSL connection to their ISP.
Try a different modem.
I have expereinced the problem you describe and all but one time (when
the modem died) it was down to the ISP giving me a dead connection. ie
I was connection, but unable to do anything online, despite it showing
as being connected. Does it show you connected? If yes, I'd bet its
your ISP thats the problem.
