Good point, I thought it might be for a clock as well, but there
doesn't appear to be any on that player.
In any way, if it is required for anything vital, then it should be
easily replaceable, just like you can replace the battery in you wrist
watch or calculator. That battery is inside the case, soldered to the
PCB. Pretty difficult and risky to replace.
I hope there's a good explanation for that battery and the reason it is
disabling the player once depleted. I don't thing anybody in their
right mind would buy a 100$+ gizmo knowing that once the 25 cents
alkalyne battery in is depleted, it's good for the trash can.
No serious wrist watch manufacturers would survive doing that !
