This is very true. Sony is a really big company with many departments. To
their credit, they do make some very nice audio stuff.

OTOH, mono-only headphone feeds from digibeta cameras and the distortion in
those headphone feeds are well documented. F900 noise and dropout as well.

Betacam SP headphone audio for location sound is also pretty atrocious.

It's easy to take shots at the big guys, though. I'm sure other camera makers
have their issues with camera sound.

Regardsless of the maker, HDV is a product to fit a price point. Something
has to be sacrificed and as was said, they also have to protect their better
stuff.
