DVD Hard disk Recorder > Archos? or Media Center PC?

Hi I am thinking of buying a DVD Hard disk recorder from which I would
like to transfer recorded TV programs direct to my Archos. Is there any
systems out there that have a direct file transfer. Or should I buy a
Media Center PC?
