You're regurgitating my question and pretending it's an answer. I KNOW
WinMX on start-up wants to modify my HOSTS file (to insert/change the
IP for www.winmx.com).

What I want to know is while WinMX is running why does opening a HTML
file with Firefox cause WinMX to repeat this activity. Why is WinMX
interacting with Firefox ... that IS the question I've been asking from
the beginning.

Can anyone in here answer that question???
