Yup, couldn't agree more. My own domain is being used by spammers in
the "return to" field. I havent noticed any users bouncing these
mails, but certainly I get tons of them "returned" to me by servers
from "unknown" accounts.
Every now and then I seek vengence by looking at sites I am being
spammed with and plonk abuse back at them. It wont make any
difference, but makes me feel good at the time!
Another annoying thing I have noticed is on forums I host. Whilst they
never get to post anything, their www address is posted in the members
listing until I delete them. This is done for search engine status. It
doesnt help them (because I delete daily) and is pointless to everyone
concerned. There are ways to make their "membership" pointless, but at
the detriment to genuine users.
I probably currently get between 150 to 200 spam emails and about 10
"new forum members" per day. So it definately is getting worse from
my perspective.
Strangely my genuine throwaway email address I use here, receives far
less than I would have expected.
