Let me say outright that I can't remember the last time I saw a good James
Bond film -and I haven't even watched any of the Pierce Brosnan ones since
Goldeneye (although I've seen enough and know enough to know I don't want to
see any more).
But I saw the new one last night -and I must say I'm well-impressed. Some of
the action scenes are pretty hairy (if a little silly at times) and gritty.
Bond is more raw. A lot more raw. There's none of the "reliable Bond
formula" at play.
It's quite long (around 2.5hrs).
The first 20mins/half an hour was very intense. Then things slowed down for
a bit. Then sped up again. , etc.
On the whole, I really enjoyed it. Quite unrealistic (as every James Bond
film is), but not at all ridiculous (as most James Bond films have been).
-Kevin.
