In particular, a length of (the active area of) horizontal scan that is
equal to the height of the (active) picture.

It should be noted that despite the variations in the horizontal
resolution, _all_ these formats - even the lowly VHS tapes - record both
fields and all 480 (or a little bit more) active scanlines. In other
words, all these formats record the full vertical resolution.
