I have a Sony DAV-FX900W, http://tinyurl.com/y2yr89, and have it
connected through HDMI to my TV. The speakers are connected to the
DVD player, not a receiver or a stand alone amplifier. But the DVD
does have a built in amplifier is capable of putting out a 5.1DTS.
What I wish to be able to do though is have the sounds of my Xbox and
Xbox360, which use component cables and are connected to my TV, be
output to the speakers so I can get the 5.1DTS when playing 5.1DTS
capable games.
When I discussed this with a Best Buy rep, I was told that either I
can have the audio connection between my TV and the DVD player, though
that wouldn't have the speaker functioning in 5.1DTS, or I can have an
optical cable going from my game consoles to the DVD, but AFAIK,
neither Xbox nor the 360 has optical audio output jacks.
So, anybody have an idea as to how I can achieve this? Any input or
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
