It is the customers who cannot tell the difference, and we have sold far
more hd-dvd machines to date beleive me... and still more pre-orders on the
new uk machines than on blu ray models, and hd is outselling bluray in
states 2-1 FACT. We as a panasonic dealer have to promote bluray, but we do
not necessarily think that nearly twice the price tag is justified for not
much more picture quality. If the average customer cannot tell the
difference, then bluray is indeed in trouble. You need at least a 50in 1080p
screen to see any difference at all.... how many people of the buying public
will buy a 50" 1080p screen as normal just to watch bluray discs?, not many
I suspect.
So, if you're suggesting that we think hd-dvd is better, then the answer is
yes, and better value for money and ensures the continuation of our beloved
standard dvd, which is in the interest of the consumer - who incidentally
pays our wages!!
