In my experience, the audience would be way more likely to notice than just
lip-syncing the whole thing.
The usual thing I've seen with many dance bands is for lead vocal to
lip-synch the songs to a backing + click track operated by the drummer with
all mics live and use the backing vocals to cover up for any fluff-ups in
vocal quality. That way there is no break in lead vocal between speaking
and the start/end of the track and you still get audience picked up in the
lead mic (so it sounds live).
