Radio Recievers for ipods

Posted by pjbphd on 12/04/06 15:12

This is a pretty basic question but despite surfing the web I can't seem to
get a decent answer.

I'm looking to purchase an ipod nano soon. The primary use will be to
listen to audiobooks on long car rides and to hear FM television broadcasts
while I'm at the gym. Of course ipods don't have radio receivers built in
so I need to pick up an add-on. The only one I've seen is made by apple and
has headphones built in. The standard headphones that come with and ipod
suck so I'd need to purchase after market headphones anyway, but I don't
trust the quality of the headphones that come built into the add-on receiver
I've seen

I can't seem to find much information on add-on receivers. I've tried CNET
but they don't really have much. Can anyone recommend a good after-market
receiver or a web site that reviews them?

At the risk of opening up the floodgates of personal screeds, am I better
off going with some MP3 player that has a receiver built in? Please keep it
civil.

Thanks in advance

McGinty
