I'm looking for a simple MP3 player for my wife who will use it primarily to
listen to audiobooks. I assume I'll need a couple gigs of storage due of
the size of the books. After looking at several audiobook web sites,
including iTunes, I've finally figured out that the iPods won't really work
well for this purpose. (Attention iPod cult members: I'm sure iPods are a
great product, in fact as many of you claim they may be a better invention
than the wheel and the last, best hope to save civilization as we know it.
However, for my simple need and due to some proprietary software issues at
both online sites and my local library they may not work best in this small,
single, exceptional case. For this I am sorry and will never say a bad
thing about iPods again in my life. I promise.)
Anyway, she may also use it as a radio, another iPod downside. (iPod
cultists. I'm sorry I did it again. That's the last time. Honest. Really
this time.).
She won't need a lot of buzzes and whistles, just good battery life, a large
file storage capacity, and possibly the ability to power it through a 12V
plug formerly known as a cigarette lighter. In her case, the fewer features
the better.
Any suggestions?
