He didn't actually say that, but I understand now that it was the
intended meaning.
I thought it was worth pointing out for the benefit of those who were
not involved in television during the half century or so before
digital electronics began to have a serious impact on it, that a great
many of the problems and confusions that beset broadcasting today are
actually caused by complications of the very technology that was
supposed to have improved it.
