Richard how can you have lost that much work due to drive failure?
That would imply you kept no backups of your edit's during that time.
I can't belive you didn't.
If it's timecoded format you can restore the sequence and reconform the
media from tape.
If it's non timecode you would have course made backups to other drives or
tape streamer after capture.
I agree tape is the most durable but drives are so cheap nowadays making
redundancy backups shouldn't be expensive.
