Because different countries have different copyright laws, and because
internet is accessible in every country in the world, I guess it's always
possible that a tougher line on copyright infringements may be taken in one
country than another? An interesting aspect of the above development is that
Youtube has "agreed to deploy an audio-signature technology that can spot a
low-quality copy of a licensed clip. YouTube would have to substitute an
approved version or remove the material automatically."
But if Youtube starts to remove video clips as a result of its own
investigations, rather than as a result of complaints from copyright
holders, then there is a fundamental switch in the way in which it operates,
so I guess this could result in the deletion of significant numbers of
copyright infringing items?
