Just a stab at a guess here, but, I'm wondering if maybe you've got a
different region DVD?
You use terms like "bloody" and "flatmate" - and I'm not sure what region
your computer's DVD software is set for (I'm in the US and your vernacular
sounds UK, but I don't know where you are), what region your DVD is, if
your computer is capable of reading NTSC, PAL and/or SECAM, is the Die Hard
DVD in PAL or NTSC?
You could just have a conflict in formats.....?
If I'm wrong, oh well.....
