Well, I'll add my opinion. That is that both the cable and the connectors
are important. I have had good luck with the Corning-Gilbert compression
fittings, and they and their tool are reasonably priced and widely
available. For example, for $60 you should be able to get a cable stripper,
the special tool, and a bag of 100 of the connectors. For outdoor
connections, I do not like to rely on any of the connectors by themselves,
but instead prefer to use the reusable sealant filled plastic protectors
that snap around the completed fitting after it is installed.
