powering an old Sennheiser MK12 with MH 125

Posted by Toby on 12/19/06 12:02

Hi all,

I've just inherited a couple of sets of old Sennheiser lav mics from the
60s. The mics themselves are the big old MK 12 condensor mics. They plug via
a Lemo plug into a cylindrical adapter called an MH 125, which have a DIN
3-pin connector on the bottom.

I'm wondering how to power these. A google search turned up the fact that
they are powered by 200 volts (!) and not by AB or Phantom 48 or T12. Did
any of you guys ever use these? I opened an MH 125 and it is full of
electronics--looks like the inside of a 416 behind the diaphragm--but no
sign of a battery. I've got an old SQN 3 that has the powering options
listed above. Will any of them work in combination with the MH125 to power
these babies?

TIA,

Toby
