Maybe you do. Even if you need them, you still have the option of not
buying, right? It's a question of recognizing a need and then doing
something about it. If you refuse to acknowledge the need, then you
probably won't buy the stamps. It doesn't change the reason for the need
though.
I am tired of this metaphor. :-)

Ok, let's drop the metaphor. Your definition of atheism is obviously based
on the ABSENCE of belief about a higher power, right? The problem is,
asserting this "absence" spontaneously erupts into actual negative
assertions. Say it for me: "There is no God", and I will show you a fool
who thinks he is God. You can't possibly know if there is a God or not, can
you? The best you can honestly hope to say is that you simply don't know.
