I've been looking for a DVD recorder with hard disc drive for a while now
and am struggling to find what I want.
Products that look as though they would do what I'd like seem to be
available, but not in the UK.
Ideal outline spec:
DV (Ilink) connector on front panel for camcorder video transfer to DVD or
HDD.
Playback of commercial movie DVD's & music CD's
Playback of mp3 & avi files DivX etc.
Ability to transfer files from DVD disc to HDD & visa versa (including mp3 &
avi files)
DVD recording on both formats DVD+R(W), DVD-R(W)
10/100 RJ45 Ethernet enabling transfer of video & music files from PC to
recorder HDD and visa versa.
(wireless & streaming video not essential)
Basically I'm fed up with burning DVD rewritable discs on my PC with a few
avi's, walking them into the lounge to play back on rather old Liteon
LVD-2001 just to see a movie on my tv. There has to be a better way.
A while back I tried a mini PC located under the tv but found that I
couldn't get a decent picture on the tv. The tv out left alot to be desired.
What is so annoying is that all the necessary technology exists. Someone
just needs to put it in one box and I'm sure it would be a very popular
product.
The closest would seem to be the Kiss range of recorders but none have the
DV input I want.
Any suggestions please.
