John ether that was a bad dvd-r spindle you got or you got what is a
code read error problem. all dvd media has embedded codes on the discs
that your recorder reads. all dvd recorders are pre-programmed with a
slew of these codes for blank media. some alot more then others. now
this doesn't mean your recorder will not accept a certain disc if it
doesn't have the codes the disc has. but in some cases this does in deed
happen and the recorder rejects the disc by saying no disc. or something
like disc error. i must say im surprised your recorder rejected a fuji
brand disc. the panny recorders usually take any of those. 1x to 16x
just means the disc is supposed to be able to run at 16x max for dubbing
purposes. i recommend that you check the id code of that fuji media to
see if its really fuji. their are sites online that have this info. i
don't know them off hand. just type dvd-r media id codes or something
like that in a search engine. if the media is fuji then i would say you
got a bad spindle of media. i used to own 2 different model panny
recorders. never had problems with any fuji media with exception to some
bad discs. its going to happen with any media. including the big hyped
tayio yuden brand. which i had major problems with. im currently using
some new 8x ridata media that my recorder seems to really love. not one
disc burn error yet using over 300 of these. pretty impressive. and
rare. its really pot luck to have this high a success rate with blank
media burning. but im enjoying it while it lasts. their could be another
factor with your recorder rejecting the fuji disc. it could of course
also be your recorder to blame. sadly dvd recorders don't seem to have a
long lifespan. 3-4 years would be very good if it lasted that long
without having to be fixed. hopefully the newer blu-ray recorders will
be better with this. i seriously doubt it.
