I was researching the history of Christmas a few weeks ago
and one record said that in pre-Victorian England, the
Christmas season started around Haloween and lasted way
past 12th night (6-Jan). Our local Costco stores are faithfully
preserving the tradition of Christmas starting the day after
Haloween (as quickly as they can swap-out the seasonal
invetory/displays. :-)
