Bought a new Samsung VR330 VHS/DVD player/recorder to transfer my home
VHS tapes to digital format. Not as elegant as going through my PC but
idiotproof, I thought, and I just wanted to get some old tapes onto a
less-perishable medium.
The VR330 has some nice features but seems buggy. In particular, I
can't finalize any DVDs made so far. After editing the chapter titles,
I start the finalization process and after re-confirming that's what I
want to do several times, I get dumped into an undocumented (in the
manual) screen with said chapter titles which locks up the system. The
only thing it responds to is switching from DVD to VCR. No other
buttons on the device or the remote have any effect, including the
power switch. I eventually unplug it and start over (the DVD is OK but
the edited chapter titles are gone) and end up at the same place. Over
and over again.
Anyone had any experience with this? Other posters have reported it
taking as long as half an hour to finish finalizing with the system
apparently "locked up." I've let it sit for over an hour to no avail
and that seems a little extreme. If I can't find a work around, it's
going back.
