try dvdfab...30 day free trial and then 27 to buy...been using it for
months and copies almost anything onto single or duel layer;;

compilations (which is basically all I want it for), but...
It's not supposed to, but can sometimes "fit to DVD" if you go through
the options a few times - and does a fairly good job at trying to pack
the data, for example - archive.org and the out of copyright movies -
i've got a couple i'd like to sit onto one single layer DVD.
I can upgrade to the full version of it for 25 (which will probably end
up being Roxio MyDVD v8 Premier) but having seen it in action, its
complete shite at compression compared to the older version - the two
"movies" were Santa Claus Conquers the Martians and Superman Festival.
The old version will shrink them to within 800Mb of a standard single
layer DVD (i.e. a bit too big)
The new version thinks it needs over *5Gb* more space when you select
extended play or fit to DVD - at that rate you'd be lucky to get just
one title on a disc !
