That's corect. The ADVC-300 & the TwinPact100 both have built-in TBCs as
well as digital noise reducers to help clean up things like VHS tape.

Don't see why not. All of these devices simply transcode a signal from
analog to digital (or vice-versa) so it shouldn't make any difference what's
fed into it.
My suspicion is that the switch on the ADVC-300 does the conversion from 4:3
to 16:9 for you.

The only feature the TwinPact100 has that the ADVC-300 doesn't is the
ability to do VGA-to-analog/ DV scan conversion (i.e. from a computer). If
that's important, then go for it. Otherwise, the ADVC-300 is a much better
tool for your needs.

The manuals (at least for the ADVC-100 I have) only cover button functions.
By that I mean, button A does this and button B does this. There really
isn't a whole lot more to the manual than is already mentioned on the
website.
