My DVD player (combi VHS rec/player)
is giving peculiar symptoms.
When I try to play a cd containing jpeg photos
it steadfastly refuses to play, giving "cant read disc"
error.
I know it is ok because a friend played it for me.
I tried a "Fellowes" cd lens cleaner disc in the hope
of a simple solution, but this was very difficult to
play, taking about 5 - 6 tries before it was recognised.
Another cd which I tried was a Nero slide show,
also gave trouble, but at one stage it played, but it
was useless anyway because the resolution had been
pared down so severely.
Any commercial cd or dvd seems to have no
trouble being recognised.
The cd is a CD-R produced by Verbatim. This is the
first time I have had my cds rejected by my player, but
also the first time I have tried JPEG photos, or the lens
cleaner disc.
I tried one solution of ripping out all the excess wiring,
just that needed, but no good.
The unit cost me extra because I have a Sony TV which
I hoped would be automatically compatible, but I am Not
impressed.
Anyone recognise the troubles?
I realise that it is commecially unfeasible to get repairs to
anything electronic these days.
Thanks,
The Zoid
