I've got the concepts of wiring the cassette player or turn-table into
the laptop. I've also know that there are plenty of mp3 encoders
available. What I'm interested in, I have yet to find (surprisingly).
I'd like a piece of software that
1) Will look up the CDDB info for the tape/album.
2) Proceed to rip the tape to MP3's splitting the songs when it gets to
the "blank" spots.
3) Name and tag the cut MP3 files using the knowledge it gained from
CDDB.
4) Do it all either under Windows XP or under a non-Apple Linux or
FreeBSD distro.
-I've seen software that will record audio as MP3 from a sound cards
input.
-I've seen software that will split audio files based on "blank" spots.
-I've seen software that will allow you to enter MP3 tag information.
-I've seen software that will lookup CDDB info from grace note.
-I've never seen anything that will put it all together that doesn't
require a Mac, and I'm not totally convinced that Roxio Toast for Mac
can do it either.
Any suggestions before I start encoding my 200 or so cassettes? If
nothing does it all, what's the best software for each piece.
My budget is about $200, but could go up to $500 if I needed to.
