You dont do it with computer software, you need to find a menu in your
Standalone DVD Recorder and tell it to finalize the disk. If you dont, the
disk structure is basically left open and no other drive, player, recorder can
see the data till this is done. When you finalyze the disk , it writes the
proper DVD structure to the disk. Of course , once done, you cannot add
anything to that disk.

If it is a DVD+ or - RW, then when you are done using it, you can reformat
it.
