It does if VBR is used. The *nominal* bitrate in VBR is ranges from 384kb/s
in XP-mode to 128kb/s in EP-mode. Even that is a nominal figure and I've
known EP-mode to drop to as low as 80kb/s and LP-mode to drop below the
critical 192kb/s necessary for surround effect. In fact I don't regard LP or
EP mode on a Panasonic as "true DVD" since the bitrates for both video and
audio fall well below the normally accepted minimum.
