The debate is stupid because "discs" will shortly not be needed for delivery
of high quality movies. Already, more and more households are opting for
Movies On Demand via their cable service. They would much prefer pressing
a few buttons on the remote than hiking to the DVD rental store.
At that point, any format imaginable, only limited by the cable operator, or
DSL provider or Wimax provider is necessary. I would guess that we're
going to see more Linux media center type devices that can handle a
multiplicity of downloadable and storable formats and that can adapt
through software rather than hardware.
